Mixed Media Paint Pouring

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Fluid Abstract Art Ideas

Welcome to the new Green Mandala Art – Mixed Media Paint Pouring tutorial. In this paint pouring art lesson, I want to go for a center blowout with a very vibrant green color palette. And just recently I did similar fluid painting – citrus pour, and I have really surprised myself with how much I love the green color in my base. It’s so just juicy and vital! So, I usually don’t go for a lot of green in my abstract art but this time, I want to go all-in and really explore this color more.

I want to go for a primarily green color palette. I have added a couple more colors just for some contrast, and once pour painting is dry I want to embellish the center with the stencil design. “Oasis” is a secret message for this abstract painting.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

I think it’s going to be absolutely perfect for what I want to create. I’m working on a 12 by 12 inches cradled wood panel. I want to go for light center parts. So, it’s going to be white actually in the center. And for my outer part, I want to go for a bit darker color. Paint Pouring tip: When doing a center blowout technique you don’t need to add a whole lot of color towards the edges of your panel. Because you’re going to be blowing from the center out, you’re going to be pushing the paint, so the outer part can actually be a very very thin layer. Let’s see how it turns out. And without further ado let’s get started!

Here this fluid painting is all dry. And this one I think turned out really cool. It was a really good decision for me to add copper on the outer parts of the stencil because this way this outer glow is in balance with the inner glow. And it all together has this beautiful expanding energy effect. Love this abstract painting! Another thing that I did after my stencil was dry, I added literally like three drops of fluid paint just over the center part of my stencil. And I blended them in together with a brush, and now everything is more in balance. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
