Mixed Media Pour Painting

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Acrylic Pouring with Embellishment | Abstract Art Tutorial

Welcome to the new Green Dragon Art – Mixed Media Pour Painting video tutorial. In this fluid art lesson, I’m working with gorgeous emerald, green, turquoise, deep colors, and on that base will create a beautiful dancing flow. “Emerald pinnacle” is a secret message for this pour painting and let’s pour out that green. The plan is to add in all the colors and then swipe them out, maybe tilt them out a little bit, and then on that will create a design.

Also I want to have a lighter and darker section in this abstract painting because we definitely want some shades and highlights to achieve the feel of depth. And I have prepared a couple metallic colors just to add a little shine, a little something extra. And I want to add a prussian blue, so not a green color but it will work amazingly with phthalo greens to really darken it up, create beautiful shades.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

I want my dancing flow to be gold, like really beautiful shining rich gold. And copper. Copper is an interesting color when it works with green, it will give you mud if you completely overmix them together but if you don’t really blend them and just sort of put them next to each other they work really interestingly. And without further ado let’s see how this creative abstract art idea turned out!

Here this mixed media painting is dry and finished with the glossy varnish. And it turned out so unique and beautiful. Something that has started as a fail, as a full chaos of shapes and forms, has transformed into one of my most favorite pour paintings ever. It is dark, it’s deep but all these wispy lines and spiral movements really add lightness and energy to this abstract painting. The pillar that I added to embellish it and to really bring some structure into this painting totally makes it look 3d. I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
