FIRE and ICE Acrylic Pouring – tutorial with a NEW Shape for 3D Effect in Fluid Painting! Let’s continue “Breaking through the limits” series with the 3d effect. And today, in this acrylic painting, I want to try a new shape. I want to create a diamond shape in my painting, and I think this one is going to be very dramatic because the theme of it is fire and ice.
I’m using a pretty long canvas, 12 inches by 36. Part of it is going to be fire flow, another one is going to be ice flow, and they’re going to meet in the center where I’m going to position that diamond.

To create the sides of the diamond today, I’m using just a regular mixing stick or craft stick.
I want to create a yin-yang type of shape in the center. And I want to spin the center a little to enhance a yin-yang movement, and I’m using my cookie cutter to do that. One little tip for you when you’re removing the open cup (because of the surface tension in the liquid), you will sometimes see there is a film that’s created between the base and the cup. So just pop it with something because if you keep lifting and it pops itself, it can create some unwanted splatters.
I united two flows through the famous Yin Yang symbol that turned out like two carp koi fishes! And that’s amazing! The series is so much fun, and I feel like there is yet so much to explore in it. Join me! In this pour painting, I’m working with beautiful contrasting colors of cold and hot. When you work with the blowing or dutch pour technique, it requires a very fluid consistency and allows creating the most beautiful lacing, cells, and color transition with the most simple pouring recipe.
