Acrylic Pour Painting 🌌

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Dancing Universe Series ~ Abstract Fluid Art ~ Galaxy Art

Let’s create a Far Galaxy Acrylic Pour Painting in this video tutorial. I’m going to continue with the “Dancing Universe” series. This is going to be the second pour painting in this galaxy pour series. In the first one I did a new planet technique. It turned out so gorgeous. So this time I want to do it again, of course, with a little bit of change.

In my first fluid painting, I created the planet with the blowing acrylic pouring technique. This time I want to do a dirty pour to create the planet and then we’ll create the space. We will be using a ring to form the shape of the planet sort of to mask out, and to separate the inner part of the painting from the outer part, works amazing.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

We will do it with a large cookie cutter. “Attraction” is a secret message for this abstract painting. So what am I going to do? I’m going to pour some colors in my cup first just to create some layers of colors for my planet. So, the first color is a cadmium yellow with some primary yellow. Second one is red-violet, and then some white. I’m going to pour just down the side, so the colors don’t overmix too much. Then I’ll use turquoise green, some yellow, a touch of dark color for some contrast. Let’s see how it works, and without further ado let’s get started.

All right, the second beautiful planet is all done, finished, covered with epoxy resin. I added even more stars for all this beautiful shine. All that transparency in my purple and violet, in the negative space is absolutely gorgeous. For this abstract galaxy I’ve also worked on the dry painting to touch it up. Especially worked on the more spheric shape for this planet to maintain the 3d look. But for this pour painting compared to my first one in this style in the series I definitely a way less adjustments that touch up required. I really love that for the negative space on this fluid painting I changed direction and made it more diagonally in line with the movement of the shapes on the planet. I think this abstract artwork is definitely a lot more interesting this way.

I hope you enjoyed the process and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
