Autumn Sun -

Mixed Media Abstract Art 🧡

Acrylic Pouring Tutorial by Olga Soby

Textured Acrylic Pouring - Mandala Art | Season Art Tutorial

Welcome to new Autumn Sun – Mixed Media Abstract Art tutorial. This time, the mixed media art idea is to use the mandala stencil to create textured embellishment in the center of this large canvas. So I’m going to use some texture techniques, and this is going to be represent the Sun, also I’m going to use a lot of golds for this element. And from this element two flows will come out and they’re going to be colored in the full foliage gradient, so we’ll go from green all the way to reds.

“Beauty of change” is a secret message for this abstract painting. We are human beings, sometimes we resist change but nature teaches us that it is essential, it is important, and it’s just part of the cycle, so we need to accept it and embrace it.

Acrylic Pouring RECIPE used for today’s flow art painting:

Acrylic paint is mixed with water only to a fluid consistency. I add approximately 30-50% of water to my colors. There is no exact % or proportion because this ratio depends on initial paint viscosity, which significantly varies from brand to brand and even from color to color.

First I’m going to focus on creating negative space for my sun element and then all the flows coming from it. This time, I’m working on prussian blue base. I think it will really help my colors pop. I have previously painted my sides of the canvas because prussian blue is quite a transparent color so if you don’t do that for your sides, especially if you’re also working with just paint and water mixture, the sides of your canvas will shine through and you will need to touch them up after. So either do it before your painting or touch up your sides after, whatever is more preferable to you.

Let’s see how this acrylic pouring idea turned out. Without further ado, let’s get started!

I think this pour painting has very festive energy with all this explosion of colors. It is definitely a celebration of this beautiful time of the year. And I really love how my textured stencil embellishment turned out with these touches of orange and green and how they all sort of swirled into, working together with the rest of this abstract autumn painting. And the fact that I used some of that paint from the stencil leftovers and I added a little bit of the texture throughout this fluid painting, I think it also makes it more cohesive and definitely adds a little bit of interest to this painting.

I hope you enjoyed this acrylic pouring tutorial and looking forward to hearing from you! Happy creating!
